About Us

More than 3rd wave, these are small batch roasts that tell a story.

Davoren Kirk - owner

I began my coffee journey at the age of 13, making drip coffee for my grandmother on the weekends and daily during the summer months. In my early 20s, I found myself frequenting small coffee shops local to Rock Hill, SC and the greater Charlotte-Metro area. I soon began buying specialty roasted beans from coffee roasters all over the country for my own personal use in espresso, flat whites, and pour overs. In recent years, I wanted to take my love of coffee a step further and began roasting green coffee on a small heat element based coffee roaster. The coffee was absolutely wonderful, and I wanted to share this discovery with as many people as possible. I began building friendships with coffee growers in Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil and other places. I also saved up and bought a shop roaster called the Aillio Bullet.

In 2019, Cheza Roastworks became a reality, and we began delivering coffee to everyone everywhere. My dog's name is Cheza, which can be translated to mean "moonflower" in Japanese, and Cheza Roastworks is named after both her and the translated "moonflower."

Cheza Roastworks sources most of our coffee and peripheral products from women-owned farms, local contractors, print shops and graphic designers. In fact, one of the greatest women I have ever known, Kimberly Kirk, has spent countless hours making the artwork behind the coffees I roast.

Thank you for stopping by, and I very truly hope that you find a roast that speaks to you on the pages that follow.
